Architectural firm sees growth on back of new work

New work for national house builders and developers is among a raft of project wins driving growth for a firm of North East architectural technologists and designers.

Newcastle’s Ergo Projects has seen a strong performance in the last six months on the back of continued demand for its services, which has included specialist design work to bring forward a new concept in modular house construction.

New orders worth an undisclosed six figures have been secured to supply design and planning, architectural, and project management services to Homes by Carlton, Karbon Homes and Port Homes among other major residential developers.

A significant number of private commissions have also been completed, contributing to 30% growth for Ergo Projects in the last six months as it targets £500,000 turnover by the end-of-the-year.

Commercial success is also set to boost workforce numbers – the practice currently employs a six-strong team but will be creating upwards of 10 new architectural technologists and design roles as the volume of work increases.

There are already several additional projects in the pipeline, which will contribute to a robust order book and strengthen the foundations for the Newburn based company, driving a continued strong performance in the next 12 months.

The firm also sees strong demand for its expertise in the affordable housing sector and is already providing project management services for one leading provider.

Despite Brexit uncertainty, it will business as usual in 2020, according to the company.

It has appointed a new director to spearhead development into other regions as regional housebuilders bring forward more residential schemes in the next few years to meet the national housing shortage.

Ergo Projects’ work spans small domestic to large scale projects, from individual extensions and renovations, to large housing developments, commercial and industrial premises. It also provides design and planning work on listed buildings, including Grade I and II structures.

Managing director Adrian Reay, who established the company in 2010, saysstrong end-of-year trading will be marked by ongoing confidence in future growth.

This will come on the backof demand for services as the company marks its 10th anniversary in 2020, underpinned by a track record in resolving complex design and technical issues and supported by investment in additional capacity.

He said: “We are busier than ever and involved in projects spanning the North East region and beyond, which is driving growth, ambition and underpinning our expansion plans.

“As our customers’ own plans come to fruition, we will see more and more demand for our specialist technical and design skills and knowledge. So, regardless of the Brexit uncertainty, it will be business as usual as the sectors we support continue to be busy.”
